Tara Lawrence, founder of Hats Off For Cancer, has been collecting hats for American children with cancer since 1997. After reading about Tara, Jan decided to get involved and bring this campaign to Canada.

Many wonderful people have contributed their time and enthusiasm to help her launch this campaign in Canada; one of them is Jacqui Krech.

Since May 1999, over 25,000 hats have been collected. There is even a large group of very special ladies knitting hats. Hats are being delivered on a regular basis to every children's hospital and cancer camp across Canada.

In July 2000, Hats Off For Cancer became a Canadian Registered Charity.
