Giving Hats to Canadian Children with Cancer

May 1999 - Hats Off For Cancer in Canada is founded by Jan Liptok.

June 4, 1999 - Thank you to Roots Canada for being our first hat donor. 50 hats were received on this day.

December 1999 - The first official hat shipment is made. 50 brand new hats are brought to McMaster Hospital in Hamilton to be given out to the children with cancer.

January 2000 - The first shipment to Hospital for Sick Children is made. 500 hats were delivered on this day.

January 2000 - Thank you to Griffiths McBurney & Partners for holding a hat drive at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Almost 700 brand new hats are collected for children with cancer.

February 2000 - Hats Off For Cancer is featured at the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Game. The evening is spent in the Community Kiosk at the Air Canada Centre collecting over 500 hats.

February 2000 - Featured on the New PL's Sports Line TV show accepting 3000 hats from Don Powell. Thank you to Don and the Old Timer's Hockey League for their support.

February 2000 - Featured on "New Day" morning show.

May 2000 - Thank you to 65 Rotary Clubs for donating several hundred hats.

April 2000 - A special thank you to Trafalgar Castle School for holding a hat drive. Over 1,000 were collected!!

May 2000 - Thank you to Glenburnie School for donating $1,295.00 along with 140 hats.

May 2000 - Thank you to Rotherglen School for donating over 1,000 hats.

May 2000 - Thank you to Sporting Life for donating 450 hats.

June 2000 - Shipments to cancer camps begin. 2,300 hats are shipped to different locations across Canada to every summer cancer camp.

July 2000 - Hats Off For Cancer becomes an official registered charity.

August 2000 - Thank you to Ontario Maple Leaf Chapter of RSES for holding a golf tournament for Hats Off. A very generous $850.00 was donated along with several hats.

August 2000 - Thank you to Scott Wright for organizing a golf tournament for Hats Off. Many hats were collected.

February 2001 - Thank you to the Toronto Maple Leafs for their support once again. Several hundred hats are collected at Community Kiosk at the ACC.

November 2000 - Hats Off For Cancer is now making regular shipments of hats to every hospital across Canada dealing with children with cancer.

April 2001 - Hats Off For Cancer has a new logo. Thank you to Vani for her creativity.

April 2001 - Hats Off For Cancer is invited to the Toronto Raptor Game to collect hats in their Community Kiosk.

April 2001 - Trafalgar Castle School once again holds a successful hat drive. They collect over 1,000 hats for children with cancer.

May 2001 - Thank you to Glenburnie School for once again donating $1,400.00 and 90 hats to our campaign.

May 2001 - A very special thank you to Griffiths McBurney & Partners for donating $15,000.00 to our campaign. This money was used to purchase 2,300 hats for shipments to all the summer cancer camps across Canada.

May 2001 - Once again Sporting Life helps us by donating 450 hats.

June 2001 - Summer camp shipments begin. 2,200 hats are once again shipped to all summer cancer camps across Canada.

July 2001 - Once again Scott Wright organized another golf tournament for us. All of the golfers donated hats.

September 2001 - Thank you to the 7th Oshawa Wolf Cubs for their donation

December 2001 - A very special thank you to Kelly and her fellow students at Ryerson University School of Fashion for designing and sewing over 150 original hats.
